Agritainment in Rochester

I think there are a lot of benefits to living in Rochester, and a big one is the local agritainment. Agritainment is consumer focused agriculture. A farm that actually provides entertainment. Agritainment can include U-Pick, pumpkin painting, hay rides, goats to pet... that sort of thing. We have a lot of agritainment in our area and in the autumn it's at it's height.

I forget that most people don't have agritainment in their area. Last week my coworkers and I took our lunch hour and picked apples. When I wrote about it on my blog, I got a lot of comments from people who were quite envious. They either did not have an apple orchard near them or close enough to drive to during a lunch hour.

For us, it was a lot of fun and a nice way to spend a lunch hour.

I love going to the pumpkin patches too. There are the pumpkins for carving, the pumpkins for decorating and the pumpkins for seed roasting. For seed roasting, I recommend Snack Jack's... they don't have hulls!
Oscar likes to take part in agritainment too.

There is so much to do and my kitchen is full of apple cider, grape pies and candy apples. I look forward all year to this season.

I'm Jenny, and I came to Rochester to get my Master's at RIT and *SURPRISE!* ... 10 years later I'm still here with:
  • a house in the city
  • a cat
  • a dog
  • a rabbit
  • a husband
  • a snowboard
  • a job as a web designer at Kodak In this blog I will write about life in Rochester including:
  • food
  • shopping
  • events
  • sights
  • weird weather
  • occasionally things like cupcakes and pugs
I have been blogging on my own site, www.ljcfyi.com, for six years and just started contributing to Kodak's corporate blog, 1000words.kodak.com, this year. Hopefully these posts will be as funny/interesting/weird as my posts on those sites.
